About

I’m Maria C. Trujillo, a Senior Interpretive Specialist who has been working in the field of art museums and education since 2010, and building programs that connect people with art and culture since 2006.

With a master’s degree in art history and nearly two decades of experience across a wide range of institutions, I’ve had the privilege of working with collections and communities in settings both large and small—from a university’s material culture archive to a modern and contemporary art museum, encyclopedic collections, and a historic house museum with expansive gardens.

Over the years, I’ve served in roles spanning school and teacher programs, interpretation, and museum education leadership. This breadth of experience has shaped my approach to interpretation, one rooted not simply in conveying information but in working with others to build relevance and relationships among visitors, stories, and collections.

My co-creative approach centers dialogue, empathy, and collaboration. I work closely with teams to design interpretive experiences that foster connection, break down biases, and build meaningful memories for visitors seeking inspiration, wellness, and shared understanding.
